Last December Elio De Tullio, Managing Partner & IPR Attorney at De Tullio & Partners (INSME Board Member), held a webinar organized by the China and South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk about IPR Protection for the Software Industry.
Given the growing importance of software to support competitive services and innovative products the webinar aimed at providing EU companies with updated information and advices regarding the strategy to pursue in China and South-East Asia.
Since innovation plays nowadays a central role and Intellectual Property is closely related to it, it is fundamental for SMEs to fully develop their IP strategy in order to benefit from the economic potential of the markets.
SMEs should start to protect their IPR before entering the market and as a second step prepare a strategy to develop their IPR protection system.
In order to following this path, Elio De Tullio shared some advices:
- Collect all IPRs-related documents and create a database with all relevant materials
- Monitor competitors’ behaviors and activate a worldwide surveillance system
- Keep monitor IP gazettes and legal actions
- Verify compliance of contracts with local legislation.
