INSME: The INSME Association will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on the occasion of the 10th INSME Annual Meeting in Abu Dhabi. You were particularly involved in its activities as a Board Member first, and since 2013 as its President. How did the Association manage to be successful in establishing itself as a global network that helps public bodies, stakeholders and intermediaries to foster innovation in favour of SMEs?
Mr. Di Anselmo: In its 10 years of life INSME, thanks to the constant commitment of its Secretariat and the involvement of its Members, managed to become one of the few global networks in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship support. We involve 96 members from 43 countries and provide them with a unique set of services facilitating access to “next practices” and exchange of experience on key challenges for our Members. This allowed us to become self-sustainable and reach out organizations and stakeholders from all over the world.
INSME: The theme of the 10th INSME Annual Meeting will be: “Investing in Innovation: Building a Sustainable Knowledge-based Economy”. What does this theme mean to you?
Mr. Di Anselmo: I am fully convinced that the only way to progress is to turn knowledge into novel products and services. Investing in young talents and innovation is the only way to give to the next generation the opportunity to act in an entrepreneurial way and give them the possibility to make changes possible and generate wealth and jobs. This is why the theme of the 10th INSME Annual Meeting is important and meaningful to me.
INSME: The 10th INSME Annual Meeting will be an important milestone in the success story of the Association. How do you see INSME’s future and which might be the opportunities and challenges in that vision?
Mr. Di Anselmo: INSME has built a lot in the past and we are all grateful to Simona Marzetti and to the Board Members who made this possible. We have now an important network to work with. Our Members are key stakeholders in their countries and regions and INSME will provide them with services and opportunities to connect, discuss and find solutions to the challenge of supporting talents, start-ups and SMEs in their journey to generate wealth and jobs.
INSME: According to your experience, what do you think potential participants might get out of the 10th INSME Annual Meeting?
Mr. Di Anselmo: This 10th INSME Annual Meeting is a unique opportunity to learn about next challenges, to have an insight on a region that will play a crucial role in the next years as pivot between east and west and south and north and to connect with stakeholders and potential partners from across the world.
