Dear INSMEnews Readers,

let me share with you the outcomes from our recent survey among our
74 Members involved in the INSME Network across 32 countries. Members were asked to express their interest in main issues to be developed and activities to be carried out in the future through our Association.
The topics and activities that have emerged as the most interesting are:

  • business creation;
  • financing for innovation (venture capital and business angels);
  • industrial clusters (both low and hi-tech);
  • SME fairs;
  • thematic training;
  • transnational technology transfer initiatives;
  • experts database, publications (report, survey, newsletters) and international calls.

We are continually engaged at INSME in initiating new activities and improving those already existing in order to better serve all those involved in our Network.

Help us help you better also through this newsletter. Send us your feedback and views so that we can better meet your needs and expectations!

Enjoy your reading!

Publications
   Global Overview of Innovative Activities from the Patent Indicator Perspective (OECD)

In this paper, edited by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, patent data are used to measure innovative activities in many OECD member and non-member countries, including China, India and the Russian Federation.
Analysis of data from a wide range of sources shows that there has been a significant increase in the level of patenting for all the countries over the past 15 years and an increase in internationalisation of patenting activities (cross-border ownerships and patents with foreign co-inventors), reflecting the globalisation dimension of science and technology activities.

   Bridging the Technology Gap between and within Nations (UNCTAD)

This report, edited by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), discusses the severity of the technology gap between and within nations, presents lessons from countries that have successfully improved their technological standing and suggests policy frameworks for developing countries to improve their technological capabilities.
